Two months ago I made the conscious decision to get #smilepro eye laser surgery after contemplating for ages 🤓.

For those who know me know I am a gym rat 🤸🏻‍♀️, and the combination of sweaty workouts and glasses do not go together 🙅🏽‍♀️…which is why many would not have seen me in glasses as I’ve resorted to the habit of wearing contact lens. However long term wear results in dry eyes. As an orthopedics resident 🦴, it is suffering especially during those long red-eye on-call shifts 😵‍💫.

There has been an increase in the number of people getting eye laser surgery in the recent years whom all seem satisfied with the results, and so I decided to hop on the bandwagon too 🚙 ~

Lucky one of my friends 👯‍♀️ @eyedr.cindy is an opthamologist, specialising in laser surgery and #smilepro. She was very thorough in all aspects of care 仔細再仔細💯

Not gonna lie I was very nervous and anxious the day of surgery 😨. I remember asking if I could potentially go blind 100x times (BTW the answer is no). The laser part of surgery takes approx 10 seconds per eye ⏰. There is a few minutes reserved after for extraction of the cornea. Immediately and a few hours after surgery was quite painful (partly bc I didn’t take any painkillers or use anaesthetic drops that they provided 💊 ). The clinic will also arrange a lift 🚗 home for you which is s big 👍🏽.

I remember waking up the next day and thinking I forgot to take off my contacts 😆. The first month I experienced some haziness 💦 especially in the early hours of the day, but it eventually subsides.

Two months after surgery at my last check up, my vision was 0.00 (drop from -6.25, -6.00). I still have to use eye drops to keep my eyes lubricated (eyes are prone to dryness in the first 3-6 months) but otherwise recovery has been smooth, and life without contacts has been SPECT-acular 🌟
